Financial Relationship Management
“Financial Relationships” is not a great phrase, but it’s the best we could come up with for the moment. Every business has a web of relationships that are critical to its success. We use the term financial relationships to convey that we deal with the finance and governance aspects of your key business relationships. So, for example, one of your key relationships will be with your customers or clients, but clearly your account managers, consultants or sales managers will maintain most aspects of the relationships with these people/businesses. However, there is also a crucial financial aspect - they pay you! Or at least they are supposed to, and hopefully on time. We help to manage that financial aspect - pricing, discounting, payment terms, credit control - and we do this in a way that is agreed with you, so that those directly dealing with customers/clients remain on side.
Then there are:
- suppliers;
- bankers;
- lenders;
- landlords;
- insurance agents;
- lawyers;
- company secretary;
- tax advisors;
- accountants;
- auditors;
- shareholders;
- non-executive directors;
- local council;
- industry bodies;
- regulatory bodies.
As with other service elements, the depth to which you need us to help with this depends very much on the size and complexity of your business.
What We Aim to Achieve With You
- Customers/clients that pay you excellent prices and pay in good time;
- Suppliers that give you an excellent service, at exceptional prices and give you excellent payment terms;
- Supportive relationships with the board, shareholders and lenders;
- Supportive relationships with your bankers;
- Excellent value out of those who supply finance and governance support services.
How Do We Do That?
- Fundamentally we want to aim for processes and principles for customer contracts and credit control that are standardised and understood by all who deal with them;
- We challenge you and your team to rigorously follow credit control processes so that you get paid on time;
- We aim to meet with all or most of your banks, shareholders, lenders, and support services contacts in order to understand their needs and concerns;
- We help you to provide the information that is requested/required by your shareholders, lenders and bankers;
- We coach and manage your internal finance and accounts team to provide information to auditors and others in an accurate and timely way.
